The first deer arrived here in January 2013 – 100 in-calf yearling hinds from a renowned Scottish herd.
Since then we have grown the herd to 180 breeding hinds. All progeny is finished on the farm. Genetic selection has been based on growth rates and in particular yearling weights.
Temperament is also a critical factor for us and our deer are widely recognised as being particularly quiet which makes them easy to work with and handle.
Our deer enterprise is fully Farm Assured under the SAI Global Quality Assured Farm Venison Scheme and our yearling stag carcass weights consistently average above 65kg.
In 2018 we were delighted to be recognised by our supply chain partners, when we received the Waitrose & Partners Farming Award in the Future Proofing category.
