The land at Old Newton was purchased in 2010, totalling just over 200 acres and together with my wife, Elaine, and daughter, Josie, we moved here in 2011.
It sits between 650ft and 700ft above sea level nestled in the Annan Water valley, with outstanding views of the notorious Devils Beeftub. The annual rainfall on the farm is around 60 inches.
The farm had previously been run as a beef and sheep farm, so with our deer enterprise in mind, there were some changes that needed to be made; first and foremost, fencing! This has been ongoing, and we now have 100 acres fenced in 9 separate enclosures.
We are passionate about improving the quality of the pasture inside and outside the deer paddocks and enabling efficient grass production for both grazing and homegrown forage production.
